A slightly lighter post today.
Picture the scene: you’re shopping for a wealthy friend with a serious passion for the automotive world. They already own every top-of-the-range supercar imaginable, but you want to buy them something truly unique. A scented pine tree? Fluffy dice? Or—if you happen to have a spare $15 million—why not this?
A Lamborghini carved from solid gold

This remarkable creation is a Lamborghini model carved from solid gold. Thankfully, it’s only a model—the real thing would be so heavy that fuel costs alone could bankrupt even the most dedicated millionaire.
Designed by German engineer Robert Wilhelm Gülpen, the model is due to go to auction soon and is expected to fetch an astonishing $15 million, potentially making it the most expensive model car ever sold.
The details
The model is based on the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 and is carved from a 500g block of solid gold. It features:
- Precious stones for the headlights
- Coloured gems for the rear lights
- Real carbon fibre supports
- Over 700 jewels on each seat
Built to a 1:8 scale, the model is currently being showcased in Dubai before heading out on a worldwide tour ahead of its auction appearance.
A (slightly) cheaper option
If $15 million feels a little steep, there is reportedly an opportunity to purchase the model before auction for a reduced price of $7.9 million. The buyer may also have the chance to take home a brand-new Lamborghini Aventador, bringing the total package to $8.6 million.
Well… we can all dream.
