Our Story

An obsession with space and what we don’t know launched this podcast

PPAP Documents was created as a practical, no-nonsense resource for professionals working with the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and related automotive quality requirements.

Over the years, PPAP has become increasingly complex, with growing expectations around documentation, traceability, and compliance. This site was built to help suppliers, quality engineers, and manufacturing professionals better understand PPAP requirements, avoid common mistakes, and reduce the risk of delays, rejections, and costly recalls.

Rather than theory-heavy explanations, PPAP Documents focuses on real-world guidance, clear explanations, and practical examples that reflect how PPAP is actually used in the automotive supply chain.

I began my career working in the steel and alloy industry, gaining practical, shop-floor experience across multiple sites including Darlaston, Wednesbury (Wet Bromb), and Bridge Street. My early roles involved hands-on work with steel coils, operating as a forklift driver and crane operator, giving me a solid understanding of material handling, logistics, and production environments.

Over time, I progressed into the quality department, where I became involved in inspection, documentation, and process control—experience that would later shape my understanding of PPAP, manufacturing risk, and quality systems.

I worked with Steel & Alloy (now part of Gonvarri Industries), a major steel and aluminium processing business operating six sites across the UK. Since 2012, Steel & Alloy has been part of Gonvarri Industries, a privately owned Spanish service centre group supplying over 4 million tonnes of material per year from more than 30 plants worldwide.

Steel & Alloy supplies strip steel and aluminium products into industries including automotive, section rolling, and construction. Processing capabilities include press blanking, slitting, multistrand blanking, decoiling, and shearing, supported by large-scale distribution facilities for storing and handling coils, blanks, and tubular products.

This combination of hands-on production experience and quality-focused roles gave me a practical, real-world understanding of manufacturing processes—knowledge that directly informs the PPAP guidance shared on this site.
