Dainese Airbag Suit

Safety remains one of the biggest concerns for motorcycle riders, and manufacturers continue to invest heavily in technologies that reduce the risk of serious injury. BMW, in collaboration with Dainese, is addressing these concerns head-on through the development of a motorcycle rider suit that incorporates advanced airbag technology.

The result is Dainese’s D-air® Protect System—a wearable safety system featuring inflatable protectors that deploy in as little as 15 milliseconds. Unlike traditional protective gear, the system actively responds to crash dynamics, providing impact protection before the rider makes contact with the ground.

BMW and Dainese plan to introduce this technology under the BMW Motorrad brand, offering:

  • A racing-focused suit for track and high-performance use
  • A touring and road-going suit designed for riders of larger motorcycles

This collaboration represents a significant step forward in rider safety and demonstrates how intelligent protective systems can complement modern motorcycle design. The partnership also signals a broader shift toward active safety technologies in both two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles.

The D-air system is expected to be showcased at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan this November. For those unable to attend, a preview video is available below to demonstrate the technology in action.
